General Statement of Duties: 

The Switchboard Operator acts as the first point of contact for all incoming calls received via the toll free line, hospital, medication refill line, or main line
to OrthoIndy.

Essential Duties: 

  1. Receives all incoming phone calls that come in either on the toll free line, hospital, medication, or main line to OrthoIndy.
  2. Follows established appointment scheduling guidelines, utilizing the appointment search tool in Moxee. Assists patients with questions they may have and direct them to the proper departments.
  3. Pages Physicians when requested and use overhead paging system as needed.
  4. Routes calls to superiors as needed.
  5. Monitors failed faxes through Allscripts. Verifies fax numbers and updates information as needed.
  6. Maintains daily and monthly call schedules/changes and emails to appropriate facilities and personnel.
  7. Reports any problems or irregularities to the Manager of Support Services.

ADP, AdvancedMD, Allscripts, Halogen, Microsoft Office, Moxee, Incident reporting

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 1-2 years of experience required; 2-4 years preferred
