GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: 

The Nursing Technician, Pre/Post-Operative & PACU, works under the direction of the Registered Nurse, preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy.

Essential Duties:

  1. Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output.
  2. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal.
  3. Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed.
  4. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse.
  5. Restocks linens and supplies on the unit.
  6. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  7. Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  8. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  9. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Specialty Training Beyond High School in a related field required; valid Indiana CNA license required
  • 1-2 years of nursing technician experience required
  • BLS Certification required
