Shift Details: Days, Full Time; 3/12 hour shifts, 7a-730p with varied schedule and rotating weekends and holidays

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: 

The Nursing Technician, Inpatient, works under the direction of the Registered Nurse, preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with daily living needs, recording vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy.

Essential Duties:

  1. Assists with and documents activities of daily living.
  2. Observes, documents, and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse.
  3. Obtains, documents, and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output.
  4. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  5. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  6. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal.
  7. Provides and documents skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  8. Restocks linens and supplies on the unit.
  9. Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed.
  10. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of medical surgical/hospital experience with valid Indiana CNA license; or nursing student with 1 (one) semester of completed clinical rotations
  • CPR Certification
