General Statement of Duties

The Lead Materials Management Coordinator works across all areas of Materials Management, including; Purchasing, Receiving, and the Storeroom. This position coordinates the activities of all Purchasing Coordinators with regards to supply issues, product research, recommendations, and the execution of purchasing and supply chain management. The Coordinator analyzes price proposals and supports invoice reconciliation with the Accounting Department to ensure correct and prompt vendor payments. This position evaluates and recommends potential suppliers on the basis of price, quality and speed of delivery. The Coordinator is the primary resource for maintaining SDS Online sheets and price changes in Meditech MMIS dictionary to ensure correct final PO pricing. This position is responsible for cross training and serves as a backup for various department locations and positions.

Essential Duties:

  1. Responsible for the daily execution of the purchasing and supply management for OrthoIndy and OrthoIndy Hospital. Assists with price proposals, invoice reconciliations, negotiates contracts, purchase goods and services, and meets with vendors.
  2. Analyzes price proposals. Supports invoice reconciliation with the Accounting Department to ensure correct and prompt vendor payments. Resolves exception issues and performs invoice tracking.
  3. Researches and tracks for cost effectiveness with current purchasing. Reviews and tracks purchase orders throughout the purchasing process.
  4. Evaluates and recommends potential suppliers on the basis of price, quality, and speed of delivery.
  5. Handles Meditech MMIS dictionary price changes on a daily basis.
  6.  Serves as a backup for the all hospital locations. Performs the necessary duties of other department position on an as needed basis. Functions as the primary resource for the department in the absence of the Manager or Director.
  7. Purchases goods and services for the Northwest location including Clinic Services and other departments.
  8. Assists with vendor check-in and check-out procedures and issues and maintains the SDS dictionary.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 4-6 years of experience required; 6-8 years of supply chain and Healthcare Materials experience strongly preferred
