General Statement of Duties: 

The Clinical Manager Inpatient organizes and directs the work of the Inpatient unit and programs under the supervision of the Director of Inpatient Services. The position is responsible for coordinating staff to assure that effective nursing services are provided and quality standards are met. The function of the Clinical Manager Inpatient is to develop and maintain an environment that supports the Inpatient staff.

Essential Duties:

  1. Monitors overall patient care and reports any unusual occurrences, circumstances, or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  2. Quality Assurance – Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing services, analyzing appropriate internal and external data and information to identify opportunities in collaboration with department’s healthcare personnel for improving services and patient outcomes. Monitors patient medical records, analyzes record for completeness, and shares feedback with staff.
  3. Promotes, monitors, and models customer service expectations. Assists staff in developing techniques for delivering exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. Conducts service recovery with patients and visitors as needed.
  4. Assists staff in problem resolution and/or identifying appropriate source of referral. Establishes, maintains, and promotes effective relationships between staff, physicians, and extenders.
  5. Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of all aspects of nursing.
  6. Continuing Education – Participates in annual and on-going training education and development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Requires knowledge of equipment and supplies. Supports continuing education initiatives for employees. Aids the Clinical Educator in developing education programs designed to assist the Inpatient staff nurse in the progression from novice to expert.
  7. Promotes research, and integrating evidence-based knowledge into the identification of best practice in the delivery of nursing care to the appropriate population.
  8. Reporting – Prepares and submits reports as necessary to assist in the administration of hospital operations, assure quality of patient care and fulfill government reporting requirements.
  9. Serves as a member of designated committees. Participates in projects as necessary.

ADP, Halogen, Incident reporting system, Meditech, Microsoft Office, SIS

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of Indiana required
  • CPR and ACLS certification required (will provide training)
  • 4-6 years recent experience in a hospital setting
