General Statement of Duties: 

The Accounts Payable Payroll Clerk assists the Accounts Payable department with matching invoices to checks, disbursement of checks, filing, opening, sorting and distributing mail, taking deposits to the bank, and other clerical tasks. The position enters accounts payable invoices into multiple accounting software programs. The position answers telephones and greets employees coming into the department by answering basic accounts payable and payroll questions and routing other questions to the appropriate person.

Essential Duties:

  1. Matches invoices to checks.
  2. Maintains vendor files including daily filing of invoices, pulling invoices requested, filing statements and setting up new vendor files each year
  3. Enters Purchase Orders and non-Purchase Order invoices into accounting system and filing invoices into open AP file
  4. Opens, date stamps, sorts, alphabetizes and distributes all incoming mail.
  5. Mails checks to vendors and makes appropriate copies.
  6. Answers phones and assists employees coming into the department.
  7. Takes deposits to the bank.

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred
